🚀 Two Cities. One China You Can’t Understand from Afar.

Beijing and Shanghai are not just cities —

they are China’s two command centers.

Beijing shapes platforms, policies, technology, and long-term direction.

Shanghai translates innovation into brands, consumption, and global taste.

This seven-day curated journey is designed for global founders, investors, and thinkers who want to understand how China actually works — beyond headlines and stereotypes.

Led by Yuanpu Huang (Yuan) — author of Unpacking China and The New Wave of Going Global — the program combines executive-level company visits, founder dialogues, and cultural immersion, offering a rare, high-context view of China’s innovation ecosystem.

🗓 Itinerary Overview

Please note: The itinerary may be subject to adjustments based on company availability and scheduling conditions, while maintaining the overall quality and structure of the program.

📍Day 1 — July 12 | Arrival in Beijing

  • Airport pickup available
  • 7:00 PM: Orientation & Welcome Session

📍 Days 2–4 — Beijing | Platforms, Technology & Cultural Foundations

Beijing represents China’s strategic brain — where platforms, technology, policy, and long-term national ambition converge.

During these three days, participants will engage with some of China’s most influential innovation-driven companies, spanning internet platforms, smart manufacturing, robotics, consumer culture, and next-generation brands, while also exploring the cultural foundations that continue to shape how China thinks and builds.

Corporate Visits (Beijing):

ByteDance — one of the world’s most influential platform companies
JD.com — a leader in e-commerce and supply-chain infrastructure
Pop Mart — reshaping global youth culture and IP-driven consumption
Xiaomi — a benchmark for ecosystem-driven innovation
Geek+ — a global warehouse robotics unicorn
Guanxia — a new-generation Chinese lifestyle and fragrance brand

Cultural & Urban Exploration:

Forbidden City — understanding China’s imperial legacy and governance tradition
Temple of Heaven — where cosmology, power, and ritual intersect
Beijing Hutongs — everyday life inside China’s historical urban fabric
Tsinghua University — China’s top talent pipeline for science and technology
Sanyuanli Market — a raw look at local consumption and daily logistics
Together, these experiences help participants understand why China’s platforms operate the way they do — and how history, culture, and power still shape innovation today.

📍Day 5 — July 16 | Beijing → Shanghai

Afternoon high-speed train to Shanghai
Evening at leisure or informal group gathering

📍 Days 6–8 — Shanghai | Consumption, Brands & Market Innovation

Shanghai reflects China’s market-facing soul — where innovation turns into brands, products, and consumer behavior at scale.

In contrast to Beijing’s strategic orientation, Shanghai offers a window into how ideas are commercialized, how brands are built, and how China’s new generation of consumers think, spend, and express identity.

Corporate Visits (Shanghai):

miHoYo — a global leader in next-generation gaming and IP creation
Dianping — shaping how urban consumers discover and choose
Dreame — a fast-rising smart hardware and home robotics company
Poizon — Gen Z’s leading lifestyle and fashion platform
Heilong Tech — enterprise software powering China’s factories
TeaBa — redefining modern Chinese tea culture at national scale

Cultural & Urban Exploration:

The Bund — China’s financial past and present in one skyline
Nanjing Road — mass consumption at full scale
Yuyuan Garden — tradition embedded inside a modern megacity
Lujiazui — capital, ambition, and global integration
Anfu Road — a street-level view of China’s creative class
By the end of Shanghai, participants will see how China’s innovation ecosystem meets the market — and how consumer taste, technology, and scale reinforce each other.
